Doing our part for the environment: KAA's WAY

Slogans like save planet earth, going green, save water, conserve nature, recycle and many more are being bundled around everyday to create an awareness that the environment is being constantly threatened by the lifestyles of man throughout the world. From developed countries to underdeveloped ones and from urban areas to rural villages and countryside, the  activities of these communities are contributing to the degradation of our living environment.

One of the most pressing problem is "CLIMATE CHANGE" of which we are facing everyday. News of such adverse climatic conditions are reported everyday in the news media throughout the world. And it is little wonder that the world leaders were gathered in Copenhagen lately. The landmark event is the United Nation Framework Convention On Climate Change. The main purpose of this Convention is to find acceptable and sustainable solutions/commitments to limit global warming.

And here in Kuching, Sarawak, the students of the Kuching Autistic Association Resource And Educational Centre were busy learning about nature and drawing and painting flowers, birds and animals. The end result is a series of colourful and pictorial drawings, four of which are printed into "blank" cards themed "Nature in Harmony". The purpose of these cards is to highlight the beauty of nature and to convey the message that man indeed could and should live in harmony with mother nature. These are the little efforts of the students Kuching Autistic Association. The Association earnestly hopes that these cards can create an awareness to conserve nature, thereby contributing in a small way, KAA's WAY towards reducing global warming.

Packs of four cards at RM10 per pack without postage are available from the Kuching Autistic Association, Banglo Lada, Jalan Bampfylde, 93000 Kuching, Sarawak. Email is kaakch@streamyx.com.
